Artist Name: Rodney Hopkins

Artist Bio: Rodney Hopkins was a young boy when his granddad gave him his first knife, along with a sharpening lesson. Since then, he has learned to carve through experimentation, books, talks with old-timers, and playing around with knives and wood. Rodney currently lives in the mountains of western North Carolina, and teaches classes and workshops for folks of all ages. He has taught in high schools, alternative schools, charter schools, and a prison-based G.E.D. program. He has an MA in education, for which he researched the connections between craft education and curricular studies. He spends his time carving spoons, bowls, figures, chairs, sculpture, furniture, and anything else that comes to mind.
