Over the decades thousands of students have come to Brasstown to learn to blacksmith. This program
has been at the cornerstone of the School since 1925. In late 2007, the Folk School decided to build a state-of-the-art blacksmith shop that would house this important program. The Clay Spencer Blacksmith Shop was completed in 2009 and stands as a centerpiece of our campus. To commemorate this project the Folk School launched a BUY-A-BEAM campaign. We are encouraging students, organizations, and community members to purchase and name the beams that compose this building’s frame. There is a large map in the entryway of the shop that will help donors locate their named beam.

We hope that you will become a part of this historic undertaking
by naming a beam in the new shop. Beams can be purchased for $1000 each. By supporting
