Rudy Lopez and Joanne Howard, Folk School instructors in woodturning and basketry, collaborated on this piece. Rudy turned the vessel and left a beautiful live edge and scribed the names on the bottom. He then turned the piece over to Joanne, who used a knotless netting technique to hand-make the netting over the top of the woodturned vessel.

Artist Bio: Joanne Howard has been weaving baskets for almost 30 years. Waxed linen weaving is her passion. She has won many awards for her work at different State basketry conventions and on an international level. She has assisted and taught many classes at John C Campbell Folk School over the years.

Rudolph Lopez has over forty years of experience as a furniture and cabinet maker, but found his true passion when he discovered woodturning. His easy-going personality and his ability to explain woodturning techniques in a simple, understandable manner have allowed him to share his skills and enthusiasm for woodturning, along with his love of wood, through teaching and demonstrating. Rudolph offers classes at his studio in Tampa, FL, and presents workshops and demonstrations at club chapters and symposiums across the country.
