Kim Joris is a Folk School instructor who is teaching The Art of Reuse: Working with Found Objects to three remarkable students this week.
This is Kim’s newest piece. It’s called “Trust” and is spelled out in keys, chains and lock pieces.
Elisabeth Allwell is from California and drove cross country with her daughter to visit the Folk School and the Appalachian Mountains. Elisabeth is originally from Germany and is 92! This is her first time at the Folk School. Her daughter is taking the Cheesemaking course this week.
Elisabeth shows off “Friendship is the wine of life” piece that was made with a ship given to her by her youngest daughter. She combined it with her collection of figurines.
This book was given to Elisabeth by her daughter in 1969! She gets inspiration for her work from this book.

Mary Ann is from Birmingham, Alabama. She’s been making work about her family.
