17 Sep JCCFS Represents at the 75th National Folk Festival
We had a great time this past weekend representing the Folk School at the 75th National Folk Festival. This was the 1st year (of a 3-year residency) that the Folk Fest was hosted in the city of Greensboro, NC. The event featured performances and demonstrations by over 300 of the nation’s finest musicians, dancers, and craftspeople.
We hope to see you next year. Save the dates for this awesome festival in an awesome town. The 76th National Folk Festival dates are September 9-11, 2016!
Our booth was in the marketplace and we met many new friends who were excited to learn about the Folk School, to see the catalog, and to enter to win a free class. We also saw lots of familiar faces, instructors, students, friends and former Work Studies.
Reed, Kathleen, Kisha & Cory Marie (yours truly ;-)) worked the Folk School table. John Campbell demonstrated wood carving on the shave horse to our right and and Rob Withrow (assisted by Bonnie) demonstrated clay to our left. Rob sold his large face jug to a collector. We are so happy for him! (And I bet he was happy he didn’t have to lug the big jug home!)
Here is a great video of Rob inspiring the next generation of potters:
