Janis Fowler is a fine artist living and working in Austin, Texas. Though professionally trained in architectural design—earning her BA in Architecture from Clemson University in 2008—she is a self-taught artist. Janis began drawing at a very young age and has since allowed her passion to evolve organically, exploring and combining a wide variety of art forms to fully express herself.

Her creative work spans multiple disciplines, with a particular love for portraiture in various media. She also occasionally ventures into skull art, three-dimensional painting, and custom furniture creation.

Janis is the artist behind the whimsical Eastside Zoo collection, a series of drawings, paintings, and scratchboard art that showcases animals enjoying life—and sometimes behaving badly. Originally inspired by the personalities of her friends in East Austin’s social cycling community, the series has grown to include an ever-expanding menagerie of fun-loving critters. Prints from Eastside Zoo are currently featured on the John C. Campbell Craft Shop webstore.
