Support our Spring Appeal: Blacksmith Work Week Recap

Another Blacksmith Work Week is in the books, and it was a busy one! More than 20 volunteers joined together in the studio for a week of chipping away at the campus to-do list and completing studio improvements.

Blacksmith Work Week has been a long-standing tradition at the Folk School for well over two decades alongside Weavers Work Week, taking place since 1993.

We can’t thank our work week volunteers enough for showing us in real-time what it means to “sing behind the plow.”

“That’s a wrap on work week!” said Blacksmithing & Metals Coordinator Elizabeth Belz.

“The list of things these volunteers accomplished is unmatched! Thank you to all the volunteers that make this possible – the @johnccampbellfolkschool campus wouldn’t be the same without you!”

Here’s a partial list:

Filled concrete, fixed doors, replaced forge beds, built a new 4×8 table, repainted Spencer entrance, built new grinding carts, built new welding table, made hooks for the local homeless shelter shed, painted walls, scraped a bathroom floor, moved drill presses downstairs, did three days of drill bit sharpening, built a bike rack for Keith House and made new hardware for the music and dance donation box.

By donating to the Folk School, you support the invaluable work of our staff and volunteers and make an immediate impact on 5,000 students from around the country who join us for class each year.

This spring, our goal is to raise $60,000 for our studios, facilities, and daily operations.

Please consider a meaningful gift during our spring appeal.

To donate, visit our online giving form or contact our Development Office at giving@folkschool.org or 828-837-2775 ext. 139.

Together, we make a great Folk School!
